PicoSure Pro emits light energy at extremely short pulse durations — measured in picoseconds (trillionths of a second) — allowing high-intensity energy to be delivered with minimal heat build-up. This mechanism is referred to as photoacoustic energy delivery, which means that pigment and tissue structures absorb the laser’s energy through vibration rather than thermal heating.
By using multiple wavelengths, PicoSure Pro can target specific chromophores (natural pigments) within the skin. The process supports skin-renewal mechanisms while minimising the risk of heat-related side effects, making it suitable for a wide range of skin tones, including darker complexions.
How Does It Work PicoSure Pro Laser
The PicoSure Pro laser delivers pulses of light that travel into the skin’s surface layers and are selectively absorbed by pigment. These high-speed pulses create photomechanical pressure waves that break large pigment clusters into microscopic particles. The body’s natural processes then gradually clear these particles through the lymphatic system.
Because the pulses are so short, surrounding tissue remains largely unaffected, helping to reduce the likelihood of unwanted heat reactions. This makes picosecond laser technology well-suited for precision-based pigment and textural management in medically supervised environments.
Potential Risks and Considerations
All laser procedures carry a degree of risk. Common, temporary side effects include:

After your PicoSure Pro session:

Apply SPF 50+ daily and reapply throughout the day.

Avoid hot environments, saunas, or strenuous activity for 48 hours.
