The CO2 laser is a fractional carbon dioxide laser that delivers energy to the skin in tiny, evenly spaced micro-columns.
The device operates by vaporising microscopic portions of tissue at precise depths while leaving surrounding skin intact, which supports the skin’s natural renewal process during recovery.
The treatment can be adjusted for different intensities depending on the patient’s goals, medical history, and skin type.
Dr Scott Allison uses medical-grade CO2 laser technology within a licensed clinical setting. Every procedure is customised based on a pre-treatment consultation, which includes assessment of skin tone, sun exposure history, and previous procedures.
Disclaimer: The following videos depict a CO2 laser procedure being performed under medical supervision for educational purposes. Individual treatment plans, suitability, and outcomes vary between patients. This footage is provided for general information only and does not constitute medical advice. All CO2 laser procedures must be performed by, or under the direct supervision of, a qualified and appropriately licensed medical practitioner. Patient consent has been obtained for the use of this footage.
How does the CO2 Laser Work?
CO2 lasers emit an invisible beam of light that interacts with water molecules within the skin.
The energy converts to heat, vaporising surface tissue and stimulating a healing response that replaces older cells with new ones.
The fractional design of the laser means only a portion of the skin surface is targeted in each session. Recovery requirements and outcomes vary between patients depending on individual factors, including skin type, procedure intensity, and post-procedure care.
Each treatment is carried out using regulated safety protocols, including protective eyewear, local anaesthetic application, and calibrated settings matched to the patient’s skin type.
Risks and Aftercare
As with any medical procedure, CO2 laser treatments carry potential risks.
These can include redness, swelling, crusting, pigment changes, or infection.
Pre- and post-procedure care instructions are provided to support recovery. Individual healing outcomes vary depending on factors including skin type, procedure intensity, and adherence to aftercare guidance.
Dr Allison reviews each patient’s history to identify contraindications and assess suitability. Follow-up appointments are available to monitor recovery. More Information on Risks and Complications is available.
